Browse Fiverr serviceMost disappointing Fiverr orders trace back to a vague brief, not a bad seller. Before you contact anyone, write down five things: the goal of the work in one sentence, the reference assets you will provide (photos, logo files, brand colours, example videos you like), the exact dimensions or formats you need (1080x1920 vertical, 30 seconds, captions burned in), how many revision rounds are included, and the deadline. Sellers quote faster and more accurately when the scope is concrete, and you avoid the most common dispute — "I thought revisions were included."
Attach reference material rather than describing everything in words. A link to a video whose pacing you like, or two product photos showing the angle you want, communicates more than three paragraphs of adjectives. If you have brand guidelines, share the relevant page; if you do not, say so plainly so the seller knows they have creative freedom.
Start with the portfolio, but check recency: a strong portfolio from two years ago tells you less than decent work delivered last month. Read the written reviews, not just the star rating — look specifically for mentions of revisions, communication, and whether the seller delivered on the first draft or needed several rounds. A seller whose reviewers say "nailed the brief first try" is usually a safer bet than one with the same rating but complaints about slow replies.
Check response time and how the seller handles questions. Send one clear question before ordering; a fast, specific answer predicts a smooth project, while a vague or delayed reply predicts friction. For larger jobs, compare the gig's fixed packages against a custom offer: gig extras are fine for standard add-ons, but anything unusual — bulk volumes, tight deadlines, usage rights beyond the default — deserves a custom quote in writing.
Very cheap gigs are usually template-driven: the seller reuses a proven layout and swaps in your assets. That is perfectly fine for simple needs like basic captions or standard thumbnails, but do not expect original creative direction at the lowest price tier. Mid-range gigs typically buy you custom work, real communication, and a seller who asks clarifying questions before starting. The most expensive gig is not automatically the best — match the price tier to the complexity of your brief, and be suspicious of prices far below the market average from sellers with no reviews.
Walk away from portfolios that are clearly stock templates with different logos pasted on, sellers with no stated revision policy, and anyone promising guaranteed virality or guaranteed sales — no freelancer controls the algorithm or your customers. Also be cautious of sellers who refuse to answer scope questions before you order, or who push you to communicate off the platform. Keeping messages and payments on Fiverr protects both sides if something goes wrong.
STEP 1
Goal, reference assets, exact dimensions and formats, revision count, deadline, and usage rights — all confirmed in the order messages before work starts.
STEP 2
Agree on when you see the first draft, how feedback is given, and what counts as one revision round. Surprises live in undefined processes.
STEP 3
Check the delivery against your written brief — files, formats, captions, timing — before accepting. Handle payment and any dispute through Fiverr's own resolution process.
