75,000 over 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 36.06 an hour. Drop to 48 paid weeks and the same salary is 39.06 an hour — the unpaid weeks are the difference.
The standard conversion assumes 2,080 hours a year — 40 hours for 52 weeks. That assumption quietly includes paid holiday and sick leave, so it understates the rate for anyone contracting without paid leave.

Enter the weeks you actually bill, not 52. A contractor billing 46 weeks at 40 hours has 1,840 billable hours, and the rate has to cover the 6 unbilled weeks plus everything an employer would otherwise pay for.
